Point Sal is one very rough beach
The first 5 1/4 mile to the Point is a good hiking path

Mile 5 to 6 is simple getting down to the beach
Looking back, the trail down to beach follows the cliff edge
The Pacific is Blue
There were hundreds of Pelicans we disturbed
Lion Rock was covered in Sea Lions
I named this Arrow Rock
Miles 6 to 7 is going over rocks, and occasionally climbing the cliff to get around bad stuff
There is a very long section where you have to...
…clime over the rocks, I took it slow and careful...
very careful...
..a twisted ankle here is a long way from home
Looking back
..and then you get to this
..this you have to climb straight up and over
Once on top, looking down
There were several of these we had to go around
Trail is always near the drop off
You can see earth eroded under the trail ahead
Sometimes the trail is good and firm, but close to cliff
..and then it gets worse
Mile 7 is all about getting down on to and off the last obstical
Last one, needed to get down to its top, and then down to the surf
Dave went down with a certain amount of dignity
I went down sitting on my butt, hiking sticks and feet out front to control the rate of desent.
No dignity involved, but I made it
Dave found a path to the beach, sort of
It did require a 5-6 foot drop into the surf

Perfect landing, walks away
I am ready to jump
Lying in the surf on you side is not exactly a perfect jump
However, any landing you can walk away from…..

Looking back, we jumped almost at end
Beautiful beach
It will be hard to walk on something so SMOOTH
At least Dave got his feet wet
Smooth beach to park road a mile away
A rope available to climb 1/2 way up final cliff
Smooth beach after mile 7 leads to the official park road. No more trespassing & illegal off trail stuff
Top of cliff, looking back
No more cliffs, we are now at the official park trail
2nd lunch for the day
Dry socks, only 6 miles to go, only 3 up hill
Only 3 miles up and a good hiking trail
2 more miles of this, and then. its all downhill
around the corner, you can see the top
Last look back..was dark when we got back to car
