This years 75th Birthday Challenge.
On last year’s 74th birthday challenge on Figueroa Mountain, I placed water on the mountain the day before the ride, but I was suffering from heat exhaustion before I got to the 1st water supply. This year I made sure that did not happen.
I did this ride in Feb. rather than May to insure a cooler ride. I also placed more water in the 1st 5 miles of climbing. I did everything I could to make it easier, but nothing is easy on Figueroa Mt.
I took fewer pictures this year, and I have included more video clips. After finally reaching the true. Top, I took video of almost all the down portion. I did not take any video during the 3 miles of rough gravel road. I did not think my phone would stay in the mount I built on that rough section. I was super extra careful approaching the creek / pothole that I crashed in last year.
Last year my Apple watch batter ran out 3 miles from the finish, so I did not record the full 40-mile loop. This year I carried a battery supply and charged the watch during lunch break; fixing that problem this year.
The time to complete the loop was just under 10 hours, basically the same as last year.
